As Spectrum of the Seas focuses on Asian Market, and its initial itinerary was set in Asia, thus the dining choices are more likely Asian cuisine. Same as other cruise ships, Spectrum of the Seas provide both complimentary dining and chargeable dining experience. Since this was only 4 days trip, I could not taste all the restaurants. Let me introduce the complimentary dining area first.
WindJammer Cafe
WindJammer Cafe locates on 14/F, serving global cuisine in buffet style. I spent most of the time here to finish the meals, because this is the most convenient place to eat something. The choices of the food is various and the menu is slightly adjusted meal by meal. Since only 4 days sailing, it was seldom repeated food i have tasted. It is very relaxing that enjoying food with a infinity sea view! It was appreciated that it is serving all day dining, breakfast, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed here. However, although it has a spacious area with large capacity, it still had long queue during peak hour (it will be explained in below).
Main Dinning Room
Main Dinning Room is a featured restaurant on Spectrum of the Seas. Different other Quantum class cruise ship, Here is a multi-level ambiance and it replaces the atrium, therefore the dining area can be seen from higher floor. It looks more spacious and elegant in design, but I don’t really like this layout as lack of privacy. Moreover, Round tables are mainly used here, that it is not such suitable to couples who want more romance and privacy. One night I had dinner with my girlfriend here, the chatting voice can be heard clearly from the nearby tables, as the distance between tables are very close. Although the food quality is good, you can have other alternatives and deserve better dining experience in other restaurants.
Besides the above complimentary dining, here are also several specialties on this ship. Certainly I could not taste all of them, but I will introduce the MUST TRY restaurants to you!
Before seeing the specialties, Royal Caribbean provides the food and beverage package for the chargeable restaurants. It is high CP value, which saves at least 20 USD per meal. I highly recommend to purchase the package once on-board. Also, it is better to make reservation for the popular chargeable restaurants as it is easy to full!
Chops Grille
Chops Grille is a traditional American steakhouse located on 5/F, mainly serving good quality steakhouse. Every Quantum class cruise ship of Royal Caribbean contains this signature steakhouse. The ambiance of this restaurant is elegant and vintage, which is suitable for enjoying a memorable and romantic dinner with your girlfriend! Highly recommend is T-rib with medium rare, it is soft enough and rich in texture!
Warm tips: You can share the dishes as the portion is large in American style! Also, smart casual is required in dress code.
Bionic Bar
Bionic Bar is exclusive in Royal Caribbean, which the robotic bartender mix and stir the cocktail for you! It perfectly presents the innovation and high-technology. We can take order by Ipad, then the robotic arms will pick the alcohol upon them accordingly, and the drink can be presented within three minutes. It is quite interesting as like watching a mini show! However, for the drink, I will prefer more hand-shacked cocktail!
